Welcome to My Site!

Thank you very much for visiting! This is the online home of my Music, coaching, community, and education work. I’m a singer-songwriter, from Warwickshire England, now based in Boston Massachusetts. I’m devoted to making the best art I can, and to making a positive difference; asking questions like ‘how is what I’m doing relevant to the poorest, and most vulnerable’?

My play as a singer-songwriter (writing, recording, gigging and promoting) takes up the main part of my time, I also coach people who want to realise their song writing gifts and vision, I host song-writing workshops, do youth music workshops and write poems and blogs. Below is a video introduction to my music. Please click ‘Sign the Mailing List’ (Left hand side of screen) and we’ll keep you updated (about 6 times a year) about news, gigs, releases, workshops and jam making (maybe not the last one)

Please do get in touch via the contacts page if you need to, and please do help me spread the word about this music and work, by sharing videos and tweets etc. We need all the support we can get! I am available for some song commissions, private gigs, benefit gigs, and some gigs in prisons, or, try me! 🙂

For Enquiries and bookings you will find contact details here.

Go well friends!

‘We Are More’ From Darius Christian, and Mark Jones.

Dear Friends

I’m very grateful to have been collaborating with my friend Darius Christian Jones on music these last months. He’s a generous and exceptional musician. Speaking to him recently, he shared the heart break he feels seeing another black person murdered by the police… Darius pulled this piece together over the last week… I’m grateful for his leadership and the leadership of folk all over the world calling for a transformation; to a respectful loving safe culture.

Connecting weekly on Zoom

I’ve been hosting a weekly zoom call where all are welcome to gather, slow down, and listen to ourselves, each other, and what is coming up. I share a song, some prompts, we break out and listen to each other. This is a chance to fill our cups… I host these each Tuesday at 3pm EST 8pm UK time in this zoom room:

These calls are deeply influenced by my friends at Wholeheart, who are hosting weekly calls, details in the link below. I find they give me just the grounding and sustenance I need and I highly recommend them 🙂

Wake Up

I was invited by an acquaintance to write a song responding to this moment of pandemic and quarantine, here’s what came up:

Wake Up Lyrics:

I have another love

That makes me feel higher

Written in my blood

‘Burn like a pyre’

You are in the clouds

keeping me inspired

There is a world

Waiting in our desires

What are we gonna give baby?

How are we gonna live baby?

Wake up!

What shall we sing today?

When we gonna kneel and pray?

Wake up!

When are we gonna spread the news?

When are we gonna stop the blues?

When we gonna reach the sky?

When we gonna stop the lies?

When we gonna start to rise?

And thrive and thrive!?

The world order is a world of disorder

Where the poor are left to drown at our borders

We build fortress afraid of the forces

Of love and empathy that could cut through the horse shit

There are radical seeds in our needs and when we fit

Giving my self to community spirit

You can’t shelter in place in a shack in Mumbai

either we all get free or all of us die

Voices In The Dark Podcast

In 2017 I was lucky enough to sit down with two of my main influences; the soulful Troubadour Rory Mcleod, and writer/spiritual activist; Alastair Mcintosh. The conversation happened within a few months of both the Brexit referendum, and the election of Donald Trump. We had a conversation about how to respond to living in dark times, and how music, poetry, activism, and spirituality have sustained these men’s lives and work. This was recorded as a pilot for a podcast, health issues interrupted the process and so this is being released now. I hope it nourishes. My apologies for only getting it to the world now!

Luke’s songwriting workshops

I love hosting learning environments for people who are keen to explore their artistry and voices, both alone and together. I’m hosting sessions in Boston MA, and England each year. Elsewhere too. Here’s a video that gives you a flavour for them. To stay connected with when and where these happen; please sign the mailing list.

I help songwriters realise their full potential as artists making a positive difference in the world.

Hi Friends

I hope this finds you well.

Are you a songwriter needing support and clarity to realise your gifts and vision? I’m happy to say that I have now been coaching song writers in person, and via Skype for two years. Here are testimonials from clients who have completed 6 months of coaching together:

Bianca Praetorius, Berlin Germany.

‘Each time we speak it’s like finding another piece of the puzzle and getting to know myself more.’

‘….. I’ve been practicing self care and awareness more, and daring to ask a musician to collaborate. This is really helping’

Mick Dimitri, London UK

‘Luke is the best teacher I’ve ever had. His patience, wisdom and generosity have helped me to grow both as an artist and as a person. After 12 sessions I feel that a lot of my accomplishments are also his, given how much support he’s given me.

I believe everybody should aspire to be a little more like Luke, and it goes without saying that I highly recommend his coaching sessions to anybody who wants to broaden their vision of life and art. I look forward to continue my journey with him per aspera ad astra!’

Emily Nicole, Western MA.

‘Luke also offers great songwriting tips and I feel that my latest songs are enhanced with his suggestions.’

‘I took Luke’s songwriting workshop and loved it. Then I thought the best decision was to continue working with Luke. Luke’s experience and wealth of knowledge in the music industry is inspiring, which makes him an exceptional music coach. He is a pleasure to work with and has a good positive attitude. Luke also offers great songwriting tips and I feel that my latest songs are enhanced with his suggestions. He doesn’t write songs for you. He lets you be the voice of your own songs and he provides guidance. I would highly recommend Luke as a coach for singer songwriters at any level of experience, who want to take their songwriting to the next level. You will be in for a treat.’

Carmen Alphenaar, Holland.

‘I really loved being coached by Luke. Luke really made an effort to understand me as a person, which lead to very helpful and meaningful sessions. Not only did he really help me develop my musical abilities and clarify my vision about the future, but he also helped me be kinder to myself. I would really recommend Luke as a coach to anyone who is looking for a very kind and open minded person to help them learn and grow, musically and personally.’

Joy, Challenge, courage and vulnerability were in play at the Boston Songwriters residential:

What a sweet time we had at the Boston Songwriting residential 2 weeks back: We were all a little nervous and shy, and wanting to share our creativity and learn and shine together. It was a great weekend, we really got in to experiencing sound and tone, playing with melodies, learning about harmony and approaches to song writing, developing a career as an artist too. On The Saturday night we had an open mic and then Stephanie Hannah and I played a set, folk were dancing! Wahooo 🙂 We plan to host the next one in April of 2019, please sign the mailing list on the left hand side of this page to be kept updated of when that is available to register for. I dare you to come!
