Thank you very much for visiting! This is the online home of my Music, coaching, community, and education work. I’m a singer-songwriter, from Warwickshire England, now based in Boston Massachusetts. I’m devoted to making the best art I can, and to making a positive difference; asking questions like ‘how is what I’m doing relevant to the poorest, and most vulnerable’?
My play as a singer-songwriter (writing, recording, gigging and promoting) takes up the main part of my time, I also coach people who want to realise their song writing gifts and vision, I host song-writing workshops, do youth music workshops and write poems and blogs. Below is a video introduction to my music. Please click ‘Sign the Mailing List’ (Left hand side of screen) and we’ll keep you updated (about 6 times a year) about news, gigs, releases, workshops and jam making (maybe not the last one)
Please do get in touch via the contacts page if you need to, and please do help me spread the word about this music and work, by sharing videos and tweets etc. We need all the support we can get! I am available for some song commissions, private gigs, benefit gigs, and some gigs in prisons, or, try me! 🙂
For Enquiries and bookings you will find contact details here.
Go well friends!
Hello from Birmingham! It’s been a long and lovely Winter. I needed some quiet time, and I’ve gotten it. I started the New Year in a little Buddhist retreat, out on the Beara peninsula of West Cork in Ireland. A heavenly way to begin the year in silent wakeful happiness ☺ I had some quality time with family there, and since have been working away in Birmingham on all the things I can’t do when touring; accounts, practicing, reflecting and planning, writing, seeing friends and music and my Nan! I’m loving it and thinking of retiring! ☺ Not really… There is so much music to make and share and people to meet and collaborate with and dance with!
I’ll tell you about what I’m doing musically: I’m getting in as much song writing as I can this next month, and then heading out on a house concert tour through April. House concerts can be magical due to the primal act of people gathering, sharing food, listening to acoustic music, and singing. Simplicity is a wonderful thing, and I am really looking forward to these concerts. If you’re interested in knowing more, or booking one, holler at Jimmy my agent, and a wonderful man.
I’m then hitting up the venues on the poster above throughout May and June all of which are listed with links to venue details here on my web site. I’m playing The London, Banbury, Cheriton Bishop (Devon) and Festival shows with a band, other shows will be solo. I like this solo challenge; the more intimate a gig is by being stripped down like this, the more I need to connect and invite engagement from the audience. Fun ☺.
I’m needing help please! Would you be willing to forward this mail to any friends (including the attachment which is the poster image) who might enjoy a night of this kind of music, and recommend it to them? Sharing my social media posts helps people hear about my music too. Nothing helps like word of mouth though, and, although it will be special to play solo shows, the London shows with the band will be intense, joyful and energetic if history is anything to go by!
I’m playing some Summer festivals, which are listed above too, and then preparing to emigrate to America in October! WHAT!? Yes, I’m in love with a very special person and, I need to follow this so, the big ocean beckons and I’m bound for Boston! It’s been a long decision to make: I love England and Ireland and this part of the world. It’s home and I love so many people here and, I’ve made my whole career here. I’m hopeful but realistic about how much work it will take to build a new career in America, and build a new life. Yet ‘Love is Lord of all’ as the old song goes and, I’m following. It’s my intention to be back here for a month a year or so, or maybe more. All to be figured out, but I want to keep playing gigs here in Britian, Ireland and Europe! So, do you know of any American venues I should play? ☺ Wish me luck, and thanks so much for supporting my music.
Stay tuned for more info on how to purchase tickets. In the meantime feel free to contact me with any questions!
‘Give It All’ was released in the Winter of 2013 and has been receiving some rave reviews over at the iTunes store. To listen to the album you can hear each track on my YouTube channel. If you want a hard copy come to a gig and buy one form me, or If you can’t get to a show, order a signed copy to be posted to you by clicking here. And you can of course download it from the iTunes store. If you want to write a review there it’s lovely to hear folks thoughts. Hope you like it friends.
I love playing house concerts; Playing a gig in some ones living room, for a cozy gathering of folk who are on sofa’s and chairs and cushions, snuggled up together can be a very intimate, homely, experience of community. We ( Jimmy Davis, and I, along with the possibility of many other wonderful artists we know) are looking to take the ‘Give it All Tour’ to living rooms more this year.
Would you like to be involved? Would you like to host a house concert? Basically, we just want to play in front of a room of people who want to listen to what we have to Offer. For efficiency we would need there to be at least 30 heads there. But even an average living room can often be ordered to squeeze that many folk in to with cushions, bean bags, blankets and pillows. We are offering this as a gift economy gig. Audience members pay what the gig is worth to them.
These gigs are totally acoustic with no amplification needed, this does mean that they are listening events, where the audience is silent during the music 🙂
We’d love it if a bed and hot meal could be provided too 🙂
If you would like to get involved please e-mail my manager Simon (email@example.com)
I’ve played many house concerts and they tend to be respectful, listening, gentle affairs. It’s not like opening your home to a random ‘everyone welcome’ house party. It has a quieter feel than that. We really look forward to this, we think it’ll be amazing to play this kind of tour and can’t wait to meet you all!
I’m very glad to say that the unstoppable Jimmy Davis, and my self, will be embarking on the next leg of our ‘Give It All’ tour in March. Shining us much as we can, with our pals on various instruments, in Various English and Scottish Towns and Cities (Sorry Wales, Ireland, and the rest of the world, but please tell your venues they need to book us!) Both acts will be playing a full set each. Ticket links are on the Tour page. We’ll be sharing material from both of our new albums. Asking questions, engaging the crowd, and rocking with full bands on some nights, whilst playing stripped back acoustic sets on others. We’re inviting local artists down to collaborate with us, so there should be some exciting fusion at work. We canny wait! Please tell your friends, bring them down, bring your musical instrument with you in case we can get a session going, this is a lot of bang for your buck! Luke
